Like many others, my journey into the world of yoga began during the turbulent times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since all the classes had transitioned to online mode at that time, I was quite determined to find an ideal in-person yoga learning and practice opportunity. Also my quest for a yoga center holding traditional values led me to discover a well established center in Al Warqa. I started my early yoga classes as a regular student, dedicatedly commuting from Muhaisnah to Al Warqa every Friday and Saturday in 2021. This commitment marked the beginning of witnessing profound, positive transformations within myself.
However, my dedication did not stop there. Eager to delve deeper, I enrolled in a Yoga Teacher Training course of 300 hours in another center located in Al Nahda, closer to Muhaisnah. This was a turning point for me—it was here that I began to understand the mystical Sanskrit texts with the help of my teachers and grasp the essence of true yoga. My journey continued with 100 hours of Kids Yoga Teacher Training and 500 hours of Advanced Yoga Teacher Training by 2023. Upon completing these certifications, I started offering yoga classes to a few neighbors, and I am elated to share that these students are still practicing with me for almost 1.5 years now.

Facing Challenges Head-On
What was the most difficult challenge that I faced during the learning and practice of yoga?
One of the most difficult aspects of my yoga practice was mastering the art of breathing practices without physical distractions—a journey that led me to a deeper understanding and control over my body and breath.

How did yoga change me?
Yoga has not only bestowed me with countless health benefits but has also profoundly reshaped my body, mind, and overall well-being. I transitioned from a shy and reticent individual into someone who confidently embraces public speaking, facing and dispelling the fear of public perception.
Health Improvements:
Suffering from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) since childhood, yoga has significantly alleviated my symptoms and minimized my dependency on constant restroom visits especially I step out of my house. Furthermore, a diagnosis of early-stage psoriasis, which I was told to manage with lifelong homeopathic medication, has remarkably retreated due to my consistent yoga practice for the two whole years without medication.
Despite a lean physique, my body lacked flexibility and was initially rigid. However, through regular and proper practice of yoga, I have begun to notice a progressive change in my body and its postures. Having undergone three C-sections, I frequently experienced back pain. A heartfelt thanks to my favorite asanas, Halasana and Sarvangasana, for their significant impact on me. Additionally, I had issues with balance, which became evident during one of my dance performances. In summary, the practice of yoga has aided my body in gaining flexibility, strength, and balance.
I used to be a co-dependent person, overly reliant on someone else, which led to dysfunctional relationship patterns. To overcome this, I began to understand the importance of practicing the principle of detachment, a lesson I learned thanks to my Patanjali Yoga Sutra classes by Acharya Bala Sir. I started turning in to my inner self, gradually applying the practice of detachment without neglecting my responsibilities towards my family and associates. I strived to be mindful of my thoughts, ensuring none disrupted my mental peace.
This practice has significantly improved my focus and attention. Thankfully, I'm able to continue my pranayama and meditation practices in the living room, even while my kids watch TV. Another crucial realization from my yoga practice is the importance of performing my duties to the best of my ability without worrying about its outcome. And finally, regarding the sufferings we all encounter in this world, rather than assigning blame, I've learned to acknowledge that these challenges are inevitable. Thus, I face them, learn from them, and continually pray for increased courage.
Conclusion
My journey underscores that yoga transcends the realm of physical postures; it's a gateway to achieving mental peace, contentment, and a zest for life. Through yoga, I discovered not just a series of exercises, but a philosophy for living that nurtures the body, enlightens the mind, and uplifts the spirit.
Currently I am looking forward to pursue a specialized course in yoga therapy which is expected to begin by early 2025.
